PROJECT OVERVIEWToo many wedding DJs are just washed up club DJs. In comparison to a club, the wedding atmosphere is genuine and has a sense of fun without any regard for emotionless ‘cool’. DJ Rees Weddings’ identity sought to highlight the their specific passion for wedding atmosphere.
DJ Rees was an exercise in self branding, but with an actual budget and implementation plan. In that sense, it was more emotionally draining than working with a client because it was my dreams, money and business at stake.
Most wedding DJs are club DJs who use weddings as a way earn extra money. A club DJ does not play the right type of music for a wedding, and the branding of these wedding DJs reflects that unfortunate truth.
THE GOALCommunicate to the bride that DJ Rees uniquely cares about weddings, and that music choice that fits their event is our number one priority.
Gathering inspiration from wedding photographers rather than other DJs allowed us to create an identity that is uniquely positioned to impress the bride.
We created a logo system and website that fit the needs of a bride, rather than a club promoter.
We also developed the phrase “Keeping Dancefloors Packed” which communicated the brand messaging.
We then collaborated with prominent wedding photographers to provide imagery for the brand from weddings that DJ Rees performed at.
